Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur village scene

Are you planning to travel to Jaipur on your trip to India? If so, you must also be considering a trip to the popular resort Chokhi Dhani, located on the outskirts of Jaipur. This post will walk you through how you can make your way from Jaipur Airport to Chokhi Dhani. In this article, you will also learn the 4 ways to make your way to the resort and the pros and cons associated with each mode of transportation.

Where is Jaipur?

Jaipur is the capital city of the western state of Rajasthan in India. It is one of the most popular cities that travelers consistently add to their Indian travel. Known worldwide for its intricate architecture, colorful fabrics, palatial monuments, and hotels, Jaipur has something to offer for each type of traveler. It also makes up one corner of the well-trodden path of the Golden Triangle of India.

What is Chokhi Dhani and where is it located?

Chokhi Dhani is located in Pratap Nagar which is in the southeastern part of Jaipur city in Rajasthan. It is a unique and opulent village-style resort, located about 20 km from the city center. Chokhi Dhani showcases the quaint Rajasthani rural life in a modern setting.

Jaipur Airport to Chokhi Dhani distance

The distance from Jaipur International Airport to Chokhi Dhani is about 12 km (7.5 miles). By car, it will take you about 20 minutes to reach Chokhi Dhani from the airport. Expect a moderate amount of traffic during peak commuting hours though.

Types of transport from Jaipur airport to Chokhi Dhani

There are many ways you can reach the Chokhi Dhani resort from Jaipur International Airport. You can have your hotel pick you up, hail a cab yourself, or book an Uber or Ola cab. If you are an international traveler, opt for an option to get driven instead of driving yourself. The traffic and traffic rules in India are very complicated (even for Indian people!), so it is best not to attempt this by yourself. Just book a car with a driver, sit back, and relax.

Ola is kind of an Indian version of Uber. If you want to use Ola cabs, you will need to download the app on your phone ahead of time. Uber also works in India and is relatively cheap. Make sure to have a working SIM card, cell coverage, and a credit card that does not charge international currency conversion fees.

Contact Chokhi Dhani in advance and request a cab

When you book your stay at Chokhi Dhani, you can request the resort to book a cab for your pick-up. Note that you can make this request for pick-up from many different places, not just from the airport. For example, if you are traveling from Delhi to Jaipur, or from Agra, you can request this. The hotel will book you a cab from their tried and trusted group of cab drivers who services their clientele. The driver will wait for you in the Arrival area of the airport with a name card. This is my recommended mode of transport from Jaipur airport to Chokhi Dhani.

It is worth noting that this is going to be more expensive than booking an Uber. However, you can expect better service and a nicer car. You will probably also get a driver who speaks English (or you may request one). You will likely need to pay cash to the driver.

Get an Uber or Ola

Once you get your luggage and come outside the airport building, book a car using your Uber or Ola app. You can opt to pay either by cash or credit card. Note that your driver may or may not speak English though. Also, I noticed that the cars servicing Uber are not of the best quality. For example, one Uber we took in Jaipur city did not have a functional AC.

I took an Uber from Delhi to Jaipur and the driver did not speak any English. Luckily, as I speak Hindi, my husband and I were fine. Not that we needed to converse a lot with the driver. But, on the way, he made a stop at the gas stations and asked us to pay a portion of the amount up front. Had I not known Hindi, this would have been difficult to communicate.

Jaipur Airport Taxi

You can also opt for a pre-paid taxi from Jaipur airport. Pre-paid taxis are managed by the New Airport Taxi Association in Jaipur. All you need to do is go to the pre-paid taxi counters in the Arrival area, state your destination and pay the amount. Then, once you collect your baggage, head towards the ground transportation area, and you will see the pickup spot for pre-paid taxis.

Catch a bus

You could catch a bus from Jaipur airport to Chokhi Dhani, although I would not recommend it if you have heavy luggage with you. From the airport, walk towards the Jawahar Circle (about 1.4 km) and take Bus No. 16. You will ride for about 33 minutes on the bus, and then get off the 12 Mill stop on Highway 52. Cross the highway, and walk 200 m to reach the entrance of the resort. This is the least expensive way to get to Chokhi Dhani.
